TRAVELLING WITHOUT MOVING – A LIVE, DIGITAL FIRST PRODUCTION
You are standing in a market in the suburbs of Johannesburg shopping for fruit. Or maybe you’re riding a tuk-tuk down the busy streets of Mumbai. Or you’re cooking a meal in a small Moldavian village.
Someone you don’t know speaks and for a moment you have no idea where you are. You look down and you discover someone else’s body. You speak but it’s not your voice. You are no longer yourself, you are someone else, in a different life, in a completely different part of the world…
With AVATAR ME you purchase a personal 1:1 live performance and for 45 minutes you live the life of someone else. The performance is a “first-person”, live-streamed experience, where you briefly can impact another person’s actions somewhere in the
world. You will be placed in unfamiliar surroundings, meet unknown people – maybe you make new friends and perhaps experience something you would never have experienced in your own life.
AVATAR ME is an intimate experience with closeness and presence recognisable from theatre – and yet it’s something completely different. The international cast is based in South Africa, Brazil, Moldova, India and Malaysia.

AVATAR ME was selected for #DANISH DIGITAL at EdFringe 2021 by The Danish Arts Foundation.
